Colorado ethanol producer files for Class VI well

Colorado ethanol producer Front Range Energy has filed for a Class VI well permit.

Carbon Storage Solutions LLC, a subsidiary of Front Range Energy, has filed for a Class VI well permit from the EPA.

An ethanol producer, the company aims to capture the CO2 derived from the ethanol fermentation process and sequester it near the FRE facility.

The Class VI application was made on May 24.

Front Range Energy previously received approvals from the town of Windsor, CO, to drill a test well to examine subsurface feasibility.
