Description

Global Clean Energy is retooling and converting the Bakersfield Renewable Fuels Refinery to produce renewable fuel products.

Once complete, the Bakersfield Renewable Fuels Refinery will produce renewable diesel from both SusOils’ proprietary camelina as well as a traditional slate of renewable feedstocks such as vegetable oils, waste fats, and greases.

In June 2024, Global Clean Energy reached an agreement with Vitol based on which Vitol becomes feedstock provider, offtaker, and lender to the project. Meanwhile ExxonMobil, the previous provider of feedstock and anticipated offtaker of naptha and renewable diesel from the project, will exit following a settlement payment. The oil giant had lodged a complaint with the Delaware Chancery Court in 2023 accusing the developer of misconduct and mismanagement.
