DG Fuels leases land in Maine for SAF production

The land will be the site of DGF’s second SAF facility.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel producer DG Fuels has inked long-term lease agreements with for 1,240 acres in Aroostock County, Maine, according to a press release.

The land, part of the former Loring Air Force Base located near Limestone and Caribou, will be the site of DGF’s second SAF facility as well as for other industrial development.

The project is scheduled to break ground in the Summer of 2024 and completed in 2027.

The location in Northern Maine affords the ability to import stranded hydroelectric power and regional timber and agricultural waste while exporting net zero carbon SAF by pipeline, the release states. The lease is with the Loring Development Authority.

DG Fuels, based in Washington DC, recently reached a long-term agreement to sell up to 46 million gallons of SAF per year from its initial plant in Louisiana.
