A consortium of southeastern utilities has formed to pursue federal financial support for a Southeast Hydrogen Hub, according to a press release.
The coalition includes utility companies Dominion Energy, Duke Energy, Louisville Gas & Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company, Southern Company and the Tennessee Valley Authority, along with Battelle and others.
The hub will respond to the recently announced funding opportunity from the US Department of Energy, which includes USD 8bn for regional hydrogen hubs as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
The companies, each with their own net-zero goals, seek to develop scalable, integrated projects at key locations across the region and encourage development of a regional energy ecosystem that will allow members to deploy hydrogen in their service areas.
