Description
Hy2gen Canada Inc, the Canadian subsidiary of global green hydrogen producer Hy2gen, is constructing a green hydrogen and green ammonia production plant in Baie-Comeau, in Quebec.
The project’s aim is to use 3.2 metric tonnes per hour of green hydrogen generated by 200MW hydropower.
The green ammonia produced will be shipped from a deep sea harbor on the eastcoast of Canada.
In June 2024, Hy2gen was selected to get a block of electricity from Hydro-Québec for the plant. The selection enables the engineering phase to begin.
Construction was initially expected to begin in 2022, with commencement of operations in 2026. As of June 2024, construction is slated to start in the second half of 2026, with production in 2029.
