Description
1PointFive’s first Direct Air Capture (DAC) facility located in Ector County, TX. Once complete this facility is expected to be the largest Direct Air Capture facility in the world. It is designed to capture 500,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year and is expected to be commercially operational in mid-2025. The facility captures CO₂ directly from the atmosphere. The DAC 1 facility will have the ability to store CO₂ in saline formations, which creates a carbon removal credit that businesses can purchase to address their emissions.
In September 2023, Amazon announced it had purchased 250,000 metric tons of carbon removal over 10 years from 1PointFive in general.
In November 2023, TD Securities announced the purchase of 27,500 metric tons of DAC CDR credits over four years from STRATOS, subject to the project becoming operational.
In January 2024, Boston Consulting Group announced it agreed to purchase 21,000 metric tons of CDR credits over three years from Stratos.
