Description

A post-combustion CO2 capture facility for the natural gas combined cycle power plant at Calpine’s Deer Park Energy Center in Deer Park, Texas.

The facility aims to capture roughly 5 million tonnes net CO2 per year, which equates to 95% of the total CO2 emitted by the natural gas combined cycle power plant each year.

The CCS facility uses Shell Catalysts & Technologies’ Cansolv CO2 technology.

The Deer Park Energy Center is a combined cycle cogeneration facility supplying a baseload capacity of over 1,100 megawatts to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid as well as steam to an adjacent facility.
