Description

The Florida Regional DAC Hub is a potential collaboration between DAC technology providers, green energy providers, CO2 transportation networks, and companies seeking to pump CO2 underground or use it in industrial processes.

It is championed by the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, which is promoting technologies that can capture CO2 from the atmosphere and store it underground in the Tuscaloosa Group (thick, permeable saline aquifers 4,920 to 7,050 feet deep).

As of August 2024, DAC business developers at the university were seeking $500m in private investment for the hub. The US DOE is expected to match the $500m.
