Description

The carbon capture facility is located in west Texas and owned by Occidental Petroleum.

It was commissioned in 2010 and cost a total of $1.1bn.

CO2 is captured from Koch Nitrogen’s Enid Fertilizer plant and transported via pipeline for enhanced oil recovery.

According to an October 2023 Bloomberg Green article, Oxy sold the project to Mitchell Group for $200m in 2022, after it didn’t reach full operational capacity in over 10 years. The plant captured less than 800,000 tons of CO2 per year from 2018 to 2022.
