Description
Commercial green hydrogen and ammonia production facilities powered by wind energy, located in Central Newfoundland.
The project includes the development of up to 530-turbine wind farm with the ability to generate 3.5 GW of electricity and 150 MW solar photo voltaic. The facility will have the capacity to produce 165kta of hydrogen and 5000 metric tons per day of ammonia.
Construction is planned to start by the end of 2025, and reach full operation by 2030.
In June 2024, McDermott was awarded an Early Contractor Involvement agreement from Abraxas Power Corporation for the project.
In September 2024, Abraxas and EVEREC achieved pre-certification for its green hydrogen and green ammonia as Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO) under the latest regulatory framework established by the European Commission on Energy, Climate Change, and Environment.
