Exclusive: Ohio natural gas plant in second round

A natural gas burning facility in Ohio is in the second round of an equity stake sale.

Carroll County Energy, the 700 MW CCGT facility in the namesake county in Ohio, is in the second round of an ownership stake sale process, sources told ReSource.

Whitehall & Co. is running the process for owners JERA and Prudential, sources said. Advanced Power, TIAA, and Ullico also have ownership in the facility, which is operated by Ethos Energy Group.

Original financing on the facility closed in 2015 and included a $425m construction-plus-five-year term loan and $53.3m of working capital.

Whitehall and Advanced Power declined to comment. JERA, Prudential, TIAA, and Ullico did not respond to requests for comment.

The facility is on 77 acres of land located one-half mile east of Ohio 9 and 2.5 miles north of Carrollton and it is adjacent to Carroll County Community Improvement Corporation land that is designated for industrial and commercial development, according to its website. It began commercial operations in late 2017 and features two GE 7F.05 gas turbines and an A602 steam turbine.
