Description
A CO2 geological storage site located near the town of Estevan in southern Saskatchewan, Canada.
Aquistore is used by owner/operator SaskPower as a dedicated geological storage option for CO2 captured from the nearby Boundary Dam Power Station CCS.
The CO2 captured from Boundary Dam Unit 3 that is not sold for enhanced oil recovery is stored at Aquistore in a deep saline aquifer.
Aquistore also serves as a monitoring and science project managed by the Petroleum Technology Research Centre.
In 2023, the project has reached the milestone of permanently storing 500,000 tonnes of CO2.
