Description
The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois is leading an effort to promote technologies that can capture CO2 from the atmosphere and store it underground. The program includes the development of a DAC hub built upon previous geological studies conducted on the Denver-Julesburg Basin.
The Colorado Regional DAC Hub intends to develop cooperative relationships between DAC technology providers, green energy providers, CO2 transportation networks, and companies seeking to pump CO2 underground or use it in industrial processes.
As of August 2024, DAC business developers at the university were seeking $500m in private investment for the hub. The US DOE is expected to match the $500m.
