Description

ConocoPhillips applied in August 2024 for its first Class VI carbon sequestration well from the EPA for a project in Texas.

An entity called ConocoPhillips Texas Gulf Coast CCS LLC filed for the permit in Refugio County, Texas, according to the EPA.

ConocoPhillips and Refugio Storage Partners have entered into an easement agreement for underground storage in the county, according to documentation.

The oil company has entered into CCS arrangements with several major players, including Sempra Infrastructure and JERA Americas. Additional details about the Refugio project partners and its CO2 sources were not disclosed.
