Description
A post-combustion carbon capture and storage project at the Glacier Gas Plant in Alberta, Canada.
The Glacier project captures CO2 from the exhaust of a natural gas-fired reciprocating engine, with a CO2 concentration of 5.5%.
The project’s first carbon injection into permanent geological storage occurred in August 2022, signaling the completion of Phase 1a.
Phase 1b will have the capacity to capture an additional 16,000 tpa from a new 5,000hp gas-fired compressor engine, bringing the total emissions abatement for Glacier Phase 1 to approximately 60,000 tpa, including avoided combustion.
Total installed cost of Phase 1b is expected to be CAD 13.7m.
The FID for Phase 1b was reached in the fourth quarter of 2022.
