An anhydrous green ammonia plant in Texas.
Construction capital is provided by a joint venture of Lotus Infrastructure (previously Starwood Energy Group) and Mabanaft GmbH & Co KG. The project financing closed on December 30, 2019.
The facility will have a production capacity of approximately 1.3 million tons of ammonia per year and will purchase hydrogen and nitrogen gasses as feedstock, providing for significant capital efficiency and reduced air emissions.
Air Products built a steam methane reformer to produce hydrogen which will be connected to and extend, to approximately 700 miles, its existing hydrogen pipeline system in the Gulf Coast.
Phase 3 of the project could involve the development of a blue ammonia facility.
