Description

LanzaJet’s alcohol-to-jet SAF commercial production facility in Soperton, Georgia.

The plant is slated to produce 10 million gallons of SAF and renewable diesel per year using a range of sustainable, low-carbon intensity ethanol, including from waste-based feedstocks.

In 2020, LanzaTech and other investors formed LanzaJet in order to finance the facility and accelerate the commercialization of the alcohol-to-jet technology. LanzaTech is a LanzaJet shareholder and LanzaTech’s CEO chairs the LanzaJet Board.

Construction started in August 2022. The facility became operational in January 2024.

In August 2024, the facility received $3 million as part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Fueling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST) discretionary grant program to upgrade SAF infrastructure and increase production to an additional 518,300 gallons of SAF annually.
