LSB entered conducted a feasibility study with Thyssenkrupp Uhde USA, LLC and Bloom Energy to develop a project to produce approximately 30,000 metric tons of green ammonia per year at LSB’s Pryor, Oklahoma facility.
Thyssenkrupp Uhde would develop the engineering design to convert a small portion of Pryor’s existing grey ammonia capacity into green ammonia.
The project would be constructed in two phases: first with Bloom supplying a 10 MW solid oxide electrolyzer, followed by the installation of an additional 20MW alkaline electrolyzer unit, which would be sourced from a leading manufacturer.
Bloom would own, operate, and maintain the solid oxide electrolyzer.
In 2023, LSB paused the project, citing lower gas prices, higher power prices, and uncertainties around tax credit incentives under 45V that created conditions favoring blue ammonia projects.
