Description
The installation of of Linde-Basf Advanced Post-Combustion CO2 Capture Technology at Mississippi Power’s Plant Daniel natural gas-fired power plant.
Southern Company Services collaborated with Linde Gas North America LLC to conduct a front-end engineering and design study for the installation of a commercial-scale carbon capture system based on the Linde-BASF advanced aqueous amine solvent-based carbon dioxide capture technology at an existing natural gas combined cycle power plant of at least 375 MW.
The information produced by the FEED was used to develop a cost estimate of +/- 15% accuracy. Capital costs, excluding financing, are estimated at approximately $752m (2021). The execution of a project based on this FEED study has an estimated duration of almost five years.
Planet Daniel was one of the two host sites evaluated. The other one, which was not selected, was Alabama Power Company’s Plant Barry.
