Description
The Southern States Energy Board is leading a coalition of southern universities and technical experts to establish a commercial-scale (438 million metric tons of capacity) CO2 Storage Complex adjacent to Mississippi Power’s Kemper County energy facility.
Project ECO2S will pursue advances in CO2 storage knowledge and technology, including optimizing CO2 storage efficiency, modeling the fate of injected CO2, and establishing residual CO2 saturation.
A feasibility study was conducted from March 2017 until September 2020.
A final Class VI permit decision is expected in 2025.
Mississippi Power Company serves as the site’s host.
