StormFisher Hydrogen is developing a clean fuels facility project in Thorold, Ontario.
The project is expected to cost CAD 200M and serve as an anchor project for a hydrogen hub in Thorold.
Once completed, the facility is expected to produce 1,250,000 gigajoules of renewable natural gas using clean hydrogen. Using electrolysis, the facility will be designed to combine renewable electricity from Ontario’s low-carbon electricity grid along with biogenic carbon dioxide emissions from local industry to produce RNG.
The Thorold facility’s main output is RNG, but each StormFisher facility is able to produce green hydrogen, e-methanol and green ammonia as well.
StormFisher has been working with Bioveld Canada and the Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA) on the facility, which would be situated at the BMI Group’s Multimodal Hub in Thorold, Ontario.
In March 2024, StormFished secured CAD $4.65M from the Government of Canada through Natural Resources Canada for the project.
