Wellington Microtech Biofuel Refinery

Wellington Microtech is developing a 3,000-barrel-per-day/41.2 million gallons/year biofuel refinery located in Wellington, Utah. The refinery will produce renewable diesel, renewable naphtha, and sustainable aviation fuel. Wellington Microtech will utilize a patented four-step technology capable of processing twenty-three different feedstocks (oils, fats, and greases). The fuels produced will be drop-in ready. The fuel will require… Continue reading Wellington Microtech Biofuel Refinery

Indaba West Memphis SAF Refinery

Indaba Renewable Fuels’s refinery in West Memphis, Arkansas. Once operational, the refinery will produce around 79.5 million gallons of high-grade, low-sulphur, drop-in SAF a year using the Haldor Topsøe technology “HydroFlex”. Indaba’s SAF will be produced using feedstock from 50% yellow grease – from used cooking oil, and 50% brown grease – from fat, oil… Continue reading Indaba West Memphis SAF Refinery

Indaba California SAF Refinery

Indaba Renewable Fuels’s refinery in California, making sustainable aviation fuel using technology from Haldor Topsoe. The facility is expected to produce 6,500 b/d of SAF beginning in 2024. It will use feedstocks from plant, animal, and grease-based sources. Haldor Topsoe is also providing green hydrogen technology. The facility is located in Imperial, California.

Northern Michigan Basin Carbonsafe Integrated Pre-Feasibility Project

Battelle’s studies to establish the feasibility of developing an integrated commercial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) site that will utilize deep geologic strata in the Northern Michigan Basin. The studies were carried out in 2017.

Northwest Advanced Bio-Fuels Columbia River Corridor SAF Project

A cellulosic renewable bio-jet fuel production facility in the Pacific Northwest. Located in the Columbia River Corridor, the facility will produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using woody biomass as the primary feedstock source.

Agra Energy Renewable Fuel Second Plant

Agra Energy’s second commercial facility turning dairy farm waste into renewable fuel, including renewable diesel and SAF. In October 2023, Agra Energy selected KP Engineering for engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction management (EPFCm) on its second plant. When completed and operational, the second plant will produce between 40 and 60 bpd of renewable fuel. The… Continue reading Agra Energy Renewable Fuel Second Plant

Agra Energy Renewable Fuel Dairyland Farm

A commercial facility to turn dairy farm waste into renewable fuel, including renewable diesel and SAF. The $20 million facility is located at Dairyland Farm in New Franken, Wisconsin. It will convert biogas waste into an estimated 750,000 gallons of renewable diesel and jet fuel annually. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh has been working with… Continue reading Agra Energy Renewable Fuel Dairyland Farm

Integrated CCS Pre-Feasibility in the Northwest Gulf of Mexico

A 2017 study demonstrating that saline and depleted hydrocarbon storage reservoirs within a storage complex can store industrial CO2 emissions safely, permanently, and economically. The study was part of the CarbonSAFE Initiative.  It was conducted by the University of Texas at Austin, partnered with the DOE. It sought to identify near-offshore storage resources on the… Continue reading Integrated CCS Pre-Feasibility in the Northwest Gulf of Mexico

Alder Fuels Plant

Alder Fuels’ first sustainable aviation fuel plant is expected to be completed in 2024. In July 2022, Boeing and Alder Fuels announced a partnership to expand production of sustainable aviation fuel. Alder Fuels’ technology enables the conversion of forest residues and regenerative biomass into a low-negative carbon green crude for jet fuel conversion. The Alder… Continue reading Alder Fuels Plant
