A facility in Florida manufacturing bio-methanol from biomass.
A facility manufacturing bio-methanol from biomass in Texas.
Enerkem Alberta Biofuels is a commercial biorefinery that converts non-recyclable household garbage into biofuels and renewable chemicals. It is located in Edmonton, Canada and it was developed with the City of Edmonton. In 2016, the facility obtained certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) system for the manufacturing of bio-methanol.
A $1.85 billion methanol production facility in St. James Parish, LA with an installed capacity of 4,950 metric tons per day, including bio-methanol. Bio-methanol is produced using bio-methane. Koch Methanol has exclusive methanol offtake rights from the facility and constructs, owns, and operates the methanol logistics assets for the outbound flow of methanol via marine,… Continue reading Koch Methanol St. James
A green methanol production facility in Beaumont, Texas. The green methanol comes from a mix of renewable feedstocks, including renewable natural gas, green hydrogen and other over-the-fence feedstock partnerships. As of 2023, OCI produces 200,000 metric tons/year. In September 2023, it announced its intention to double production.
In a 2022 report, Mitsui notes the manufacturing of bio-methanol through biogas at Fairway Methanol, a joint venture with Texas-based Celanese corporation. Fairway Methanol is manufacturing low-carbon methanol and constructing a CCU business. The project began running in January 2024. It is expected to capture 180,000 metric tons of CO2 industrial emissions and produce 130,000 metric… Continue reading Mitsui | Celanese | Fairway Methanol
The plant has been operational since 2015. Methanex has received International Sustainability & Carbon Certification for bio-methanol production at its Geismar 2 site in 2022. This certification enables sales to European fuel customers under the Renewable Energy Directive II. A Geismar 3 project is under construction. The bio-methanol is produced from renewable natural gas. In… Continue reading Methanex Geismar Plant
A 200,000 metric ton per year waste-to-methanol production facility that would include a waste processing and treatment facility, a biorefinery, and an electrolyzer for green hydrogen production. The project would source approximately 320,000 MTPA of regional biomass that would be stored, treated, and dried. The treated biogenic waste would be fed to a gasifier, which… Continue reading Proman Waste-to-Methanol Facility
Ørsted’s development of a 675 MW Power-to-X facility on the US Gulf Coast. The facility is expected to produce approximately 300,000 tonnes of e-methanol per year. The methanol will fuel A.P. Moller-Maersk’s fleet of 12 methanol-powered vessels. The facility will be powered by approx. 1.2GW of renewable energy from onshore wind and solar PV farms.… Continue reading Ørsted Power-to-X Facility — Project Star
