NextEra Energy Resources, LLC and Linde are planning to develop an up to $1bn clean hydrogen facility west of Tonopah, in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Gila Hydrogen Facility will be developed by Gila Hydrogen, LLC, a wholly-owned, indirect subsidiary of NextEra Energy, in collaboration with Linde. The companies plan to develop the new facility on… Continue reading Gila Hydrogen Facility
Constellation will use a portion of the US DOE hydrogen hub funding to build the world’s largest nuclear-powered clean hydrogen production facility at its LaSalle Clean Energy Center in Illinois. The project will produce an estimated 33,450 tons of clean hydrogen each year and create thousands of good-paying jobs. Constellation estimates its LaSalle clean hydrogen… Continue reading Constellation’s LaSalle Clean Energy Center
The Midwest Hydrogen Hub network spans Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, with the potential to expand into other Midwestern states. Located in a key U.S. industrial and transportation corridor, the Midwest Hydrogen Hub will enable decarbonization through strategic hydrogen uses including steel and glass production, power generation, refining, heavy-duty transportation, and sustainable aviation fuel. The decarbonization… Continue reading Midwest Alliance for Clean Hydrogen — MachH2 (Selected for DOE funding)
GLCH has proposed to develop low-carbon hydrogen via electrolysis based in Oak Harbor, Ohio at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. The facility proposes to distribute the hydrogen across the Great Lakes region by pipeline and road transportation. The GLCH project is built on the foundation of ongoing, preliminary work supported by the DOE and the Idaho… Continue reading Great Lakes Clean Hydrogen Coalition (Encouraged)
The project involves the installation of Bloom Energy solid oxide electrolyzers at Xcel Energy’s Prairie Island nuclear facility in Welch, Minnesota. Engineering for the 240 kW demonstration is currently underway, with construction expected to begin in late 2023 and power-on expected in early 2024. The pilot project is a recipient of a $12m DOE grant.
The project would use 200 MW of clean energy to produce green hydrogen and ammonia for export. Planned expansions would create the capacity to serve both local and global energy needs. The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) is working with Cross River Infrastructure Partners to pursue the use of advanced small modular reactor (aSMR) technology as… Continue reading Port of Belledune Green Energy Hub
OxEon is partnering with PNW Hydrogen LLC, Idaho National Laboratory, the National Energy Technology Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Arizona State University, UC Irvine and Siemens Energy to execute a Power-to-Power demonstration at the Palo Verde Generating Station , a 4-GW #nuclear power plant in #Arizona. This program was… Continue reading Palo Verde Generating Station
The clean hydrogen production and storage projects underway at Nine Mile Point will demonstrate the viability of hydrogen electrolyzer and fuel cell technologies, setting the stage for possible deployment at other clean energy centers in Constellation’s fleet. DOE approved moving forward with construction and installation of an electrolyzer system at Nine Mile Point, to separate… Continue reading Nine Mile Point
The Mid-Atlantic Hydrogen Hub spans the Delaware River and includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, and southern New Jersey. The Mid-Atlantic Hydrogen Hub will help unlock hydrogen-driven decarbonization in the Mid-Atlantic while repurposing historic oil infrastructure and using existing rights-of-way. The Mid-Atlantic Hydrogen Hub plans to develop renewable hydrogen production facilities from renewables and nuclear electricity using both… Continue reading Mid-Atlantic Clean Hydrogen Hub – MACH2 (selected for DOE funding)
Energy Harbor and the Department of Energy (DOE) have entered into final agreements to continue the development of a zero-carbon hydrogen production demonstration project at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station near Toledo, Ohio, in collaboration with Idaho National Laboratory (INL), Xcel Energy, and Arizona Public Service. Davis-Besse was selected by the DOE due to its… Continue reading Davis-Basse Nuclear Power Station
