The U.S. District Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit this week vacated FERC’s certificate for two LNG projects in Brownsville, Texas.
The impacted projects are Texas LNG, a proposed 4 MTPA facility owned by a subsidiary of Glenfarne Energy Transition LLC; and NextDecade Corp.’s 27 MTPA Rio Grande LNG plant, which is under construction in Brownsville, Texas.
The developers are required to seek new permits from FERC.
“NextDecade is disappointed in the Court’s decision and disagrees with its conclusions,” the company said in a statement, which added that it was assessing all of its options. Construction on trains 1 – 3 will continue in the meantime, it said.
