Description
Bear Head Energy was planning to develop, construct and operate a large-scale green hydrogen and ammonia production, storage and loading facility at the site of the previously approved Bear Head LNG export facility near Port Hawkesbury on the Strait of Canso on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
In September 2024, BAES Infrastructure, an energy transition entity created by Buckeye Partners, the owner of the project, folds. Bear Head Energy is put up for sale.
Before BAES folded, Bear Head planned a phased development that included partnering with onshore and offshore renewable energy developers to build out a large-scale green hydrogen hub for Atlantic Canada.
Buckeye Partners is owned by IFM Global.
According to regulatory filings, a final investment decision was originally expected by the end of 2024.
