Aemetis receives key permit for California SAF/RD plant

The company has received a use permit for its Riverbank Biofuels Project in California, also called CarbonZero 1.

Aemetis has received a use permit from the City of Riverbank to build its 90 mgpy sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel plant at the 125-acre Riverbank Industrial Complex in that city, according to a news release.

The Riverbank Industrial Complex, a former U.S. Army ammunition production plant, is being converted as part of the federal Base Realignment and Closure program.

Aemetis has signed $3.8bn of SAF supply contracts with airlines, and a $3.2bn renewable diesel supply contract with a national chain of travel stops, the release states. The Riverside production facility will include about $500m of investment.

Resource reported in February that Aemetis was well capitalized to complete the $1.2bn in biogas and SAF projects it had in development.
