Arbor Gas | Spindletop Renewable Gasoline Project

Arbor Gas’ Spindletop Renewable Gasoline Project converts woody biomass into renewable synthesis gas for the production of approximately 345,000 barrels annually of drop-in high-octane renewable gasoline. The gasoline will be produced from woody biomass generated from the East Texas woodshed incompliance with the EPA rules under the Renewable Fuel Standard. It is located in Beaumont,… Continue reading Arbor Gas | Spindletop Renewable Gasoline Project

SunGas | Beaver Lake Renewable Energy Facility

A green methanol facility in central Louisiana with a production capacity of 400,000 metric tons of green methanol per year. The green methanol is expected to be used as marine fuel by A.P. Moller – Maersk’s fleet of methanol-powered container vessels. The facility will utilize wood fiber from local forests. The methanol will have a… Continue reading SunGas | Beaver Lake Renewable Energy Facility

Air Company | AIR Factory 01

Air Company’s first pilot facility. Air Company turns CO2 from the atmosphere into sustainable aviation fuel, AIRMADE™ SAF. The CO2 used is captured from traditional fermentation and industrial alcohol plants prior to it being emitted into the atmosphere and arrives at Air Company in tanks after it has been cooled, pressurized, and liquified.

Cemvita | eCO2 Pilot Plant

A pilot plant in Houston, Texas, using CO2 emissions as feedstock to produce products including methane and fuels. As of April 2023, when the pilot plant launched, the eCO2 company was in pre-FEED engineering on full commercial-scale designs. In September 2023, Cemvita Corporation announced an offtake arrangement with United Airlines for up to 1 billion… Continue reading Cemvita | eCO2 Pilot Plant

Edgar Thomson Plant CO2 Capture Test

The US Steel Corporation and the DOE’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) are testing an advanced membrane technology to capture CO2 emissions generated by steelmaking operations at the US Steel’s Edgar Thomson Plant, located in Braddock, Pennsylvania. The project is part of the U.S. Department of Energy/NETL Point Source Carbon Capture Program. Compared to other… Continue reading Edgar Thomson Plant CO2 Capture Test

Drakesboro Combined Cycle Plant CCS

A carbon capture technology system at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) natural gas facility in Drakesboro, Kentucky. TVA is working with TC Energy to jointly invest $1.25 million to study carbon capture technology to reduce emissions at TVA’s facilities in Ackerman, Mississippi, and in Drakesboro, Kentucky.

Ackerman Combined Cycle Plant CCS

A carbon capture technology system at the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) natural gas facility in Ackerman, Mississippi. TVA is working with TC Energy to jointly invest $1.25 million to study carbon capture technology to reduce emissions at TVA’s facilities in Ackerman, Mississippi, and in Drakesboro, Kentucky.

Jim Bridger CCUS Retrofit

A potential CCUS system at PacifiCorp’s Jim Bridger Units 3 and 4, in Wyoming. In 2017, as part of the Integrated CCS Pre-Feasibility phase of the CarbonSAFE Initiative, the University of Wyoming, in partnership with DOE, will perform a phase I pre-feasibility assessment for secure, commercial-scale CO2 capture and storage at the Rock Springs Uplift,… Continue reading Jim Bridger CCUS Retrofit

Kentucky NewGas project

The Kentucky NewGas project in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, a project in the earlier planning stages, has been canceled. Project developer, Peabody Energy, officially advised the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 2013 that it had ceased further development work on the project.

Utah CarbonSAFE carbon storage

The University of Utah and its partners identified a practical commercial-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS). Objectives included identifying and quantifying technical requirements as well as attributes that maximize economic feasibility and public acceptance of an eventual storage project. The primary outcome of the project, also called the CarbonSAFE Rocky Mountains Phase I project, was… Continue reading Utah CarbonSAFE carbon storage
