The project allows for blended SAF storage at Phillips 66 Torrance Terminal, in California. Blended SAF from the terminal can be transported to five airports in California, Arizona, and Nevada via pipeline. In August 2024, Phillips 66 received $11m from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Fueling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST) discretionary grant program for enabling SAF blending and storage at its Portland terminal. The terminal will provide storage for inbound neat SAF and transfer up to 180,000 barrels of blended SAF to Portland International Airpot per month.
The ADM plant in Decatur is home to a Class VI CO2 storage well, which has stored well over a million tons of CO2 over the last decade.
