A blue hydrogen facility at MMEX’s Pecos County site in Texas. It has an estimated capex of estimated of $1.25bn
The project produces blue hydrogen utilizing an autothermal reformerx technology along with carbon capture. In turn, the hydrogen will be used in Siemens Energy turbines and generator sets to produce 265 MWe of electric power which are projected to utilize initially a 75% hydrogen-25% natural gas feed and moving to a 100% hydrogen feed.
It utilizes TotalEnergies’ solar power.
As of February 2024, MMEX is talking with international banks to raise debt and equity for the project.
Co-located at the site is a green hydrogen facility.
