EE North America’s Power-to-X facility Port of Victoria, Texas producing e-methanol using biogenic CO2. The e-methanol would then be used to fuel vessels for maritime shipping operations. Montauk Renewable is expected to provide biogenic CO2 from its Texas facilities for the production of e-methanol, starting in 2026 for 15 years. In January 2024, Project Nightshade… Continue reading EE North America | Project Nightshade
Carbon Sink plans to deliver 100,000 tonnes/year of green methanol to A.P. Moller-Maersk from its debut plant, which will be co-located with the Red River Energy existing bioethanol plant in Rosholt, South Dakota. Carbon Sink produces green methanol by combining green hydrogen from the electrolysis of water using additional renewable electricity and biogenic CO2. The… Continue reading Carbon Sink Red River Energy plant
Air Company’s first pilot facility. Air Company turns CO2 from the atmosphere into sustainable aviation fuel, AIRMADE™ SAF. The CO2 used is captured from traditional fermentation and industrial alcohol plants prior to it being emitted into the atmosphere and arrives at Air Company in tanks after it has been cooled, pressurized, and liquified.
The Grande Prairie Nauticol Energy Blue Methanol project was to produce 3.4 million metric tonnes of blue methanol annually. The project, which was announced in 2018 and would have been operational in 2025, was canceled on February 7, 2023. A smaller facility could be planned on the site in the future.
In December 2020, Enerkem announced the construction of a CAD 875 million biofuels plant in Varennes with a group of strategic partners including Shell, as lead investor, as well as Suncor and Proman, and Hydro-Québec, which will supply renewable hydrogen and oxygen, and with the support of the governments of Quebec and Canada. Varennes Carbon… Continue reading Enerkem | Varennes Carbon Recycling Facility
The proposed TGF Export Complex will produce industrial-scale, cost-effective, and sustainable fuels such as clean ammonia, hydrogen, and methanol, and is expected to become one of the world’s lowest-cost producers of clean fuels. The TGF Export Complex aims to reduce carbon emissions in industries such as marine shipping, power generation, and fertilizer. The final investment decision… Continue reading Texas Green Fuels Export Complex
Renewable Hydrogen Canada Corporation (RH2C), through its subsidiary Canadian Methanol Corporation (CMC), is planning to produce green methanol (e-methanol) and low-carbon blue methanol at a plant near the town of Tumbler Ridge in northeastern British Columbia (BC). Both products will be transported by rail to a new bulk liquids storage facility on the coast near… Continue reading RH2C | Tumbler Ridge Methanol Project
The CAD $2.5bn facility will be able to produce around 200 million tonnes per year of blue methanol and blue hydrogen that will be converted to ammonia and shipped internationally. Construction is expected to start in spring 2023 and be completed in fall 2026.
Lake Charles Methanol II, LLC is a clean hydrogen project located near Lake Charles, Louisiana, that will use advanced natural gas reforming technology and permanent carbon capture and sequestration to produce low-carbon hydrogen for conversion to blue methanol. The project utilizes Topsoe’s SynCOR™ technology, which deploys auto-thermal reformers to reform the natural gas and provide… Continue reading Lake Charles Methanol II
Inter Pipeline is partnering with Petronas Canada and ITOCHU Japan on proposed blue ammonia and blue methanol facilities. A final investment decision is expected in 2024. If sanctioned, construction would commence in late 2024 with a 2027 in-service date. The project was announced on May 11, 2022.
