Dutch-based SkyNRG is planning to build a sustainable aviation fuel facility in Washington state, according to a news report.
The Seattle Times reported, citing an interview with SkyNRG CEO Philippe Lacamp, that the developer expects the plant to be operational by 2028 or 2029 and cost between $600m – $800m to build.
The project to produce about 90,000 metric tons of SAF per year, about 30 million gallons, according to the report, with the CEO noting that Washington now as the most generous incentives in the US supporting SAF production.
The new law creates a per-gallon incentive for SAF with lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions that are at least 50 percent lower than traditional jet fuel.
The SAF incentive passed earlier this month increases for each one percent reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas beyond 50 percent, up to a potential incentive of $2 per gallon.
