Gold H2 signed an MOU in the USA with an oil and gas company to begin a series of pilots over the course of the next 12 months. The MOU was signed in July 2024. This pilot’s aim is to commercially demonstrate Gold H2’s Gold Hydrogen producing biotechnology and aims to produce hydrogen costing $0.80/kg.… Continue reading Gold H2 | Gold Hydrogen Oil Wells Pilot
Big Hill Materials has an hydrogen production site with a salt dome planned in Bay City, Texas. As of June 2024, the project is not yet finalized. Hygreen Energy, the Chinese alkaline and PEM electrolyzer manufacturer, is in negotiations with Big Hill Materials to supply electrolyzers to the project.
Tenaska is advancing two sequestration projects in Dallas, Texas. Tenaska’s base facility has 5 million metric tons per year of storage capacity, plus the necessary pipeline infrastructure to bring the emissions in. The base facility design costs approximately $500m to build, with variations depending on the land position, site geology, and required pipeline miles.
Tenaska is advancing the Bluewood CCS Hub, a carbon sequestration hub in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Bluewood CCS project provides carbon sequestration for manufacturers, power producers, and other carbon emitters along the Texas Coastal Bend. As proposed, C02 emissions from these facilities would be captured and transported to geologically secure underground storage locations in the… Continue reading Tenaska| Bluewood CCS Hub
Tenaska is advancing the Pineywood CCS Hub, a carbon sequestration hub in Houston, Texas. As of May 2024, the project is highly developed. The project offers CO2 storage for manufacturers, power producers, and other carbon emitters in Southeast Texas. CO2 emissions from these facilities would be captured and transported to geologically secure underground storage locations… Continue reading Tenaska | Pineywoods CCS Hub
Phase 3 of the Gulf Coast Ammonia project would involve building the facility’s “blue” hydrogen plant, which would produce 1,500 million metric standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of hydrogen from natural gas.
Oberon Fuels, a California-based renewable fuels developer, is planning to build a Gulf Coast facility with a $200m capex. When operational it would produce 45,000 mtpy of methanol, or a comparative amount of rDME. Oberon Fuels hopes to reach FID by the end of 2024. In March 2024, Oberon announced it had hired Morgan Stanley… Continue reading Oberon | Gulf Coast rDME Facility
Pemex’s potential blue or green hydrogen production at its Deer Park refinery in Texas. Pemex, the Mexican state oil company, said in a March 2024 presentation that it is looking into opportunities for high-impact carbon abatement, which include a pilot project for green or blue hydrogen at Deer Park, near Houston, as well as potential… Continue reading Pemex | Deer Park Hydrogen Project
Vast Energy, an Australia-based and NASDAQ-listed concentrated solar power developer and fuels producer, is in the early stages of developing a project near El Paso, Texas. It’s the company’s first in the US. The project would produce eSAF or methanol. To produce eSAF, Vast would use a solid-oxide electrolyzer coupled with the Fischer-Tropsch process, while… Continue reading Vast | El Paso Clean Fuels Project
Verde Clean Fuels and Diamondback Energy have an agreement in place to construct a facility in the Permian Basin that will utilize stranded natural gas to produce 3,000 barrels per day of low-carbon gasoline. The facility requires around $325m of capex. Both Verde and Diamondback will take equity stakes in the project, and Verde will… Continue reading Verde | Diamondback | Permian Low-Carbon Gasoline Project
